Help, I keep getting logged out of the forum!

Postby admin » Tue Jul 15, 2008 1:23 am

If you have to re-login to the forum constantly (even if you checked the box asking to stay logged in) you probably have a cookie problem. Cookies are used to "remember" you from one session to the next on the forum. If you have disabled cookies in your browser, you should expect to be asked to re-log in frequently. If you have cookies enabled, but you're still having problems and it's logging you out then you probably have a corrupt cookie on your computer.

Here are the instructions for deleteing your old cookies (if you're in internet explorer):
  1. Close ALL of your web browser windows.
  2. Open a new internet explorer window, and go to the menubar at the top and select Tools-> Internet Options...
  3. From the internet options dialog, make sure you have the "General" tab active. In the middle you will see a section titled "Temporary Internet Files". Click the button in that section titled "Delete Cookies".
  4. It will prompt you again to verify whether or not you want to delete all cookies in the Temporary Internet Files Folder - choose OK (this may take a while)
  5. Now click the "Delete Files" button in the Internet Options dialog.
  6. It will prompt you again to make sure you wanted to delete your temporary internet files - be sure to check the box to delete ALL files before clicking OK
  7. Finally click OK in the Intenet Options dialog to exit.
Try returning to this forum - hopefully the log in problems will be gone.

Here are updated instructions for clearing cookies on the iphone:

  1. Tap on the Settings icon in the home screen.
  2. Scroll the screen down until you find the Safari option and tap on it.
  3. Near the bottom of the Safari settings screen tap on the "Clear Cookies" button.

  4. A little window will pop up asking you to confirm the action... tap on the button that says "Clear Cookies" to complete the operation.
  5. Now return to http://www.stlwed.com/forum in your browser and hopefully you can log in and post - if not you can try returning to the safari settings page and this time clear both the cookies and the cache.
