Spring Clothes

Postby jennelled » Mon Feb 13, 2017 11:46 am

Since we're apparently skipping the rest of winter, I'm antsy for a wardrobe refresh. Any spring trends you're digging? Ideas to tide me over?

Me, too! I have a white one from last summer that I love, although strapless bras annoy me. Even the shoulder cut out shirts are starting to grow on me, and I could get away with that at work... (Honestly, I could probably wear off the shoulder, too, but that feels like a step too far!)

I wouldn't call myself stylish....at all. But I joined the group "Outfit Of The Day" on FB and have gotten some great ideas there!

I feel like everything "stylish" right now is too young for my 40 years or doesn't fit my body shape. Even I lost weight, tunics and longer shirt on my short body don't work. And I don't feel like there is a "classic" go to style anymore. I wish I could find something that I felt decent about myself in. Good thing I'm broke, right?

nothing against yoga pants and leggings, but they are not for me. I always put on a pair of jeans to leave the house. (being at home is a different story though  )

It was actually my new years resolution last year to not wear the house without jeans/work pants. Mentally it just makes me feel better.

But I NEVER judge another person for wearing yoga pants- I just have a weird need for pockets. ;)

I've been home with Clara the past two days (she has strep), so plenty of time for internet browsing. Trends I'm seeing:

-off the shoulder dresses and tops
-ties / bows - mainly on sleeves, but also tie-front shirts (hi, childhood!) and lace up shirts (ugh, I hate this trend - so 2002!)
-florals (because spring)
-white denim
-ruffles and peplums
-seersucker / nauticual / stripes

Florals, nautical, and white denim for spring? Ground breaking!

I've noticed a lot of ballet-inspired clothes- body suits, ballet neck tops that scoop in the back, fuller skirts, etc. I'm still on the hunt for the perfect off-the-shoulder top.

Cutouts on arms (including cold shoulder) tops are awful to me. I think they make arms look fat (sorry not sorry). I also hate lace up stuff.

I'm mostly excited for dresses with bare legs and booties. It took me a while to get into it but I love the look!

I've never gotten in to this look, but do have a couple of pairs of booties now. They're more for fall / winter - what do you have for spring and summer? I like these, but I prefer a wedge... Also, I'm so freaking pale I'm hesitant to wear light colors like this.

I've never even tried them on so maybe they wouldn't look as horrible as I envision, but I feel the same way about the cold shoulder tops. Mostly because they've been a staple in plus sized stores for years and, like a lot of the clothes there, they don't seem to be flattering for larger women. Second because I lived through a time where people wore cold shoulder mock-neck bodysuits with stirrup pants! I'm not sure I can ever get past that!

I had two nautical inspired lace up tops that I used to love (years ago), but I have seem a lot of them lately that I'm just not feeling. I feel like certain nautical looks can pull it off, but others not so much.

I bought two shirts recently that I can wear layered now, but the colors/textures are more suited for Spring. Although after I bought them I realized they both have gold zippers on the front and I only own one pair of gold earrings (small textured hoops my mom bought for me in Europe). I may have to look for a pair of fun gold earrings that I wear with them.

I'm not much for trends, but I did finally buy myself some clothes and boots this Winter. I haven't really bought myself much since before Joseph was born and he's 5 now so it's beyond time. You know I'm behind the times when I just bought my first pair of jeggings!

I love those but 1) why does every blogger keep pushing them?! and 2) the heel is probably too high for me.

I saw a mix between these and the ones that Jenelle posted at Ross/Marshalls/TJMaxx this past weekend. (We were at all three, so I forget which one. haha)
Almost bought, but the heal is too high for me. BUT, I'm on the hunt for peep-toe nude shoes also. :)

I'm the same way. I love the look, but I can't wear anything with much of a heel these days.

I did see these at Kohls and they don't look too high: https://media.kohlsimg.com/is/image/kohls/2765024_Taupe?wid=1000&hei=1000&op_sharpen=1 (For some reason I could only link pic, the page link wasn't working.)

I also saw a few different options at Nordstrom, but they're a little more than I usually spend on shoes: http://shop.nordstrom.com/s/earth-intrepid-peep-toe-bootie-women/4169109?origin=category-personalizedsort&fashioncolor=TAUPE%20SOFT%20NUBUCK%20LEATHER

They are from Sonoma. Go figure, today it's letting me post the link.
